The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Regional Directorate of Balochistan held an Anti-Drug Awareness Seminar at Bolan Medical College, Quetta on Thursday
RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – October 13, 2022): The Balochistan Regional Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Directorate held an Anti-Drug Awareness Seminar at Bolan Medical College, Quetta on Thursday.
According to a spokesperson from ANF Headquarters, Major General Aneeq Ur Rehman Malik HI (M), Director General, ANF Pakistan was the main guest at the event.
The spokesperson informed that more than 500 students from different fields of education physically attended the seminar. However, the “eye count” was even more down to virtual presence, he said.
Students from other universities including Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences, Balochistan University, Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, Quetta Institute of Medical Sciences and the Government Girls Degree College, also attended the seminar.
The keynote speaker, addressing the participants, emphasized that drug abuse had evolved from a critical national problem to a national and global threat.
The ANF, as a force, would leave no stone unturned to stem this threat and fight against all odds to secure the next generation, he added.
Other speakers highlighted the challenges faced by young people, the role of society and academic institutions against drug abuse. Performance anxiety and peer pressure emerged as the main causes of addiction among young students.
The Quetta Youth Ambassadors also participated in the seminar and had an exclusive interaction with the main guest.
At the end, a round table with the Vice-Chancellors and Heads of Departments was also organised.
The chief guest assured the esteemed members of the full support and cooperation of the Force and highlighted the role of educational institutes in raising awareness in this regard.
