CEBU CITY – Police seized illegal drugs worth almost 20 million pesos and more than 700 drug suspects were arrested from October 13 to November 12 in Central Visayas.
The Central Visayas Police Regional Office (PRO 7) described the 30-day completion as a great success.
PRO 7 reported that 30 days after Brig. General Roderick Augustus Alba took over as Chief of Police for Region 7, 766 people involved in illegal drugs were arrested in 554 anti-illegal operations.
Forty-six were listed as high value individuals.
No deaths were reported in the anti-drug operations where 16,463.08 grams of shabu worth 11.9 million pula were confiscated.
In addition, 65,257.80 grams of adult marijuana plants worth 7.8 million pula were seized. Some 20 capsules of ecstasy worth 34,000 pesos and two grams of cocaine worth 10,600 pesos were also confiscated.
The Lapu-Lapu City Police Bureau recorded the largest shipment of illegal drugs with 7,331.46 grams of shabu totaling 49.8 million pesos and 254.97 grams of marijuana worth 30,500 pesos .
A total of 789 wanted person operations were also conducted and resulted in the arrest of 129 most wanted persons.
The Cebu Provincial Police Bureau recorded the highest number of arrests with 252, followed by the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Bureau with 218 and the Cebu City Police Bureau with 158.
PRO 7 also reported 306 unfixed firearms operations that resulted in the arrest of 66 people and the recovery of 329 firearms and five explosives.
