MCSO discovers undercover bunker containing firearms and illegal drugs in Waddell’s warehouse


Authorities investigating the alleged theft of utilities from an RV storage facility in the West Valley have discovered an underground bunker containing firearms, illegal drugs and cash.

The Maricopa County The Sheriff’s Office said detectives issued a search warrant on Oct. 25 at the Hole in One RV, Boat & Toy Storage facility, located near 143rd Avenue and Northern Parkway, after owners were suspected of supplying their company with electricity stolen from a nearby Arizona Public Service Junction Box.

The owners of the establishment, Laura Swink, 61, and her 35-year-old son, Steven Swink II, were stopped and put in jail. They are charged with theft of service charges, criminal damage and fraudulently obtaining public services.

While searching the facility, detectives found a large underground bunker, which consisted of several convex boxes and semi-trailers that were stacked together to form the three-level bunker which was equipped with scissor lifts and ladder systems of tunnels.

Containers of chemicals, bags of unknown powder and cylinders of compressed gas were found in the bunker. Illegal drugs and several firearms were also found.

The following objects were seized from the property:

  • 36 guns
  • 1 pound of methamphetamine
  • 1 ounce of cocaine
  • 0.5 ounce psilocybin mushrooms
  • 200 narcotic pill capsules
  • $240,000 cash
  • Gold and silver worth $700,000

The investigation is ongoing by MCSO.
