Capital Police Dismantle Illegal Drug Supply Chain, Arrest 2 Others


ITANAGAR, July 3: Police in the capital claimed to have dismantled an illegal drug supply chain with the arrest of the two main drug suppliers from Kalaktang in West Kameng district on July 2.

Police said it was established by Tadar Chada and Tadar Kampung, who were arrested earlier with over 700 kg of cannabis (ganja), that the source was located at Kalaktang in West Kameng district. “Through disclosure statements, electronic surveillance and human intelligence, the information was confirmed,” SP said.

Those arrested were identified as Tsering Rakpa from Boha village and Lobsang Darjee @Nima from Ankhaling village.

During the search operation, police recovered 19 bags of suspect cannabis ready for sale weighing 246.81 kg from a Rakpa godown. The suspected cannabis was seized in the presence of Kalaktang ADC Anu Bamin and Kalaktang Police Station OC SI T. Taloj.

In this regard, a case was filed at Kalaktang Police Station under Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act.

The accused were taken to the capital the same day and brought before the investigating judge.

With this, police have so far arrested six people in connection with NLG PS FIR no. 82/2022 US 20b (i)C/27a/29NDPS Act of 6/24/22 and seized over 960 kg of cannabis.

The 10-member capital police team was led by Naharlagun SDPO D. Gumja and SI SS Jha from Naharlagun Police Station. Naharlagun Police Station OC coordinated the team from here.
