The Cebu Provincial Police Bureau (CPPO) has seized more than 157 million pesos worth of illegal drugs in the past eight months.
His biggest haul was between June and September when he seized 11 kilos of shabu with a standard drug price of 79.4 million pesos and 42,000 pesos of marijuana.
On September 15, 2022, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia declared an all-out war on illegal drugs and urged all mayors and heads of national government agencies to join her.
Despite the amount of illicit drugs seized, the OCPP has yet to find a shabu lab in the province. This is because the illegal drugs come from outside of Cebu, according to OCPP Director Col. Rommel Ochave.
“Based on the information we gathered from the arrested suspects and some private citizens, illegal drugs are being shipped to Cebu,” he said.
For this reason, Ochave said, the CPPO will strengthen border controls with the help of the Philippine Coast Guard, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Ministry of Interior and local government to keep tabs on contraband entering the country. Province.
Ochave said he also arrested 2,263 drug figures, some of whom were high-value people and had already been charged in court.
The CPPO also arrested 2,128 wanted persons, of whom 292 were on the most wanted list at the provincial and municipal levels.
It also arrested 3,254 people for illegal gambling. (AYB / PJB)
