MANILA – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confiscated approximately PHP 432 million worth of suspected illegal drugs and arrested approximately 2,010 people in more than 1,077 operations in March.

NCRPO chief Major General Felipe Natividad said on Wednesday that police also cleared 719 barangays of illegal drugs, or 42.19% out of more than 1,709 barangays.

“Intensifying our anti-illegal drug campaign to achieve our vision of a drug-free community for all is one of the keys to achieving our goal of maintaining safety, peace and security in the metropolitan area of Manila,” Natividad said. . “We have made progress in our campaign. We are getting closer to assisting the PDEA in clearing a number of barangas as part of anti-illegal drug operations.”

Among those arrested in March, 563 were the most wanted people.

“During this period, the NCRPO was able to recover 160 firearms and arrest 150 people thanks to the intensification of measures aimed at combating the proliferation of illegal firearms in (the) NCR,” he said. declared.

Meanwhile, police arrested 1,721 people and confiscated PHP 297,811 worth of bets in 582 illegal gambling operations from March 1-31. (NAP)
