NCA Hosts Drug Awareness Seminar and Expo

A seminar and poster exhibition entitled “Say No to Drugs” was organized by the National College of Arts (NCA) Lahore, in collaboration with Deputy Commissioner’s OfficeDrug Counseling Training Center (DATH) & Colombo Plan aimed at increasing drug awareness and highlighting the problem of drug abuse and illicit trafficking and its impact on society.

Addressing the occasion, Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Consultant Anti-Drugs Narcotics Campaign, and Shahzad Tanveer Deputy Registrar NCA, highlighted several causes seen in younger generations who are subjected to drug addiction. They further added that things happen to us all the time, but all that matters is how you react to them and what you do with them becomes the cause of the change.

Suggested recommendations such as self-confidence, self-control, reduction of communication gaps, strong family bonds, self-awareness and participation in healthy activities are an effective way to counter drug addiction. .

Stakeholders also pointed out that major reasons for drug inclination could include depression, peer pressure, involuntary drug addiction, and lack of self-control and performance enhancement. They suggested treating an addict like a patient and always empathizing with their rehabilitation process.

On this occasion, the Principal, Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafari said this; the student can highlight this important issue in society with their artwork. He asked the young students to pledge not to be deceived by any bad company and to always maintain the esteem of their faith and their families. Dr. Jafri shared his own experiences with the students while emphasizing the importance of life given to us and said that we should be able to protect it rather than ravaging it ourselves. He also added that drug addiction is a path of misery and it makes us suffer, which leads to a painful situation not only for us but also for our families, so we must act responsibly towards these things.
