Illegal drugs, items seized after searches of Grey-Bruce properties

Illegal drugs and property estimated to be worth more than $122,000 were seized during searches of properties in Gray and Bruce counties, including Owen Sound, as well as Barrie on Thursday.

A 60-year-old Barrie resident has been charged in connection with searches conducted by various branches of the Ontario Provincial Police, Owen Sound Police and Barrie Police.

As a result, police seized a quantity of cocaine, crack, methamphetamine, fentanyl and oxycodone with an estimated value of nearly $82,000.

Police also seized property related to the offence, including digital scales, cell phones, drug paraphernalia, Canadian and non-Canadian currency, three vehicles and two .22 caliber rifles worth estimated at over $40,000.

The accused was charged with possession of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of storing a firearm or restricted weapon, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition while prohibited and four counts of breaching a probation order.

The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound to answer the charges.
