Hundreds pull over in northern Wisconsin as authorities target illegal drugs


(WFRV) – A interdiction organized by the Forest County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in hundreds of traffic stops and multiple arrests.

According to the Forest County Sheriff’s Office, on April 29, a high intensity criminal interdiction took place throughout Forest County. The interception reportedly lasted eight hours.

During the eight hours, a total of 107 traffic stops were carried out. The following statistics were provided:

  • Warnings issued: 108
  • Citations issued: 20
  • K9 deployed: 41
    • Positive K9 indications: 25
    • Negative K9 indications: 16
  • Total number of arrests: 24
    • 18 drug-related arrests
      • Drugs included fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, prescription pills and marijuana
    • Jump five on bail
    • Two arrests under the influence
    • Two arrests after dismissal
    • A warrant of arrest
    • Concealed Weapon Arrest
    • A person operating without a valid license – 2nd offense
    • Resisting/obstructing the arrest of an officer

Officials reportedly used the Crandon Community Building for the ban. Several agencies ranging from Michigan’s Menominee County to Oconto County also helped.
