Anti-crime police raids lead to 130 arrests and $1.2 million in illegal drugs seized

More than 130 people were arrested in concurrent police operations on Thursday amid a police crackdown on suspected drug traffickers and other criminal elements in south Metro Manila.

Southern Police District Director Brig. General Jimili Macaraeg said among those arrested were 49 men involved in drug use and trafficking, while 59 others were involved in illegal gambling.

Also arrested were 28 people with standing warrants for various crimes.

“They were the result of a one-day concurrent anti-crime law enforcement (SACLEO) operation,” Macaraeg said.

The latest operations also resulted in the seizure of at least 1.2 million pesos of prohibited drugs, including shabu and marijuana.

“In the relentless effort to account for loose firearms, a .45 cal with five live ammunition and an improvised shotgun loaded with two live ammunition were confiscated,” Macaraeg said.

In his anti-illegal gambling campaign, SPD men arrested 59 people and recovered a bet amounting to ₱7,653.

“The relentless manhunt operation against wanted persons by the seven police stations has resulted in 28 arrests, six of whom are among the most wanted persons,” Macaraeg said.

Macaraeg congratulated his men on their latest accomplishments.

“The steady achievements are the result of the collaborative efforts of the men and women of the SPD. I am impressed with your diligence in carrying out your law enforcement duty. I hope we can maintain this momentum which could transform our goal of lasting peace, security and community without violence,” he said.

The National Capital Region Police Bureau also congratulated Macaraeg and his men for their successful operations, which he said, in accordance with his support for the PNP’s directive to combat illegal drugs and other forms of crime.

The NCRPO had ordered the five police districts in Metro Manila to fully implement the PNP’s anti-crime campaign dubbed SACLEO, or Simultaneous Crime and Law Enforcement Operations, aimed at ensuring the peace and order in the community.

SACLEO is an all-out police operation conducted simultaneously in identified areas against illegal drug figures, most wanted people, gun owners, illegal gamblers and municipal ordinance violators.
